Hi all,
I am having an issue with notification emails not sending in some cases:
When someone replies to a forum topic I started or took part in, I get no email
When I am mentioned, messaged, a reply to an activity type, friend request etc etc I do get an email.
I have checked the logs and no emails are being sent out, and there are no php calls in the apache logs.
I have all my notification settings as on
I have just upgraded to the latest wp and bp
Does anyone have any ideas?

This seems to work locally using MAMP – but not on my server. Does anyone know where else I can look?

You use the same version of buddypress in local and your server hosting?

You receive notifcations in server for others notifications type or for all notifications ?

yup, same codebase and same database.
yup – only missing emails seem to be: when someone replies to a forum topic I started or took part in

Are you using bbPress 1 still, or are you using bbPress 2 (aka site wide forum)?

I have Cloudflare on my live site, which I am turning off for a bit to see if that effects it – it will slow the site down though

I might need to do some digging into cloudflare’s page rules http://blog.cloudflare.com/introducing-pagerules-fine-grained-feature-co – if anyone has any thoughts on what files I should exclude from Cloudflare’s options, then all recommendations welcome

I’ve just checked the code, and BP doesn’t send any emails from forum activity. We explicitly send emails for the other types of activity you’ve mentioned.

Finding that the rule for http://www.mywebsite.com/groups/*/forum/topic/* with all cloudflare options off is working (at least for now) it means that the topic pages are not cached – so slower, but fingers crossed I’ve just sorted out a problem I’ve had for a year!
Still open to other suggestions.

Hey @djpaul we might be talking cross purposes, I’ve likely not given you the correct info – it is now sending emails for forum replies

I still can’t find anywhere that BuddyPress sends emails when something happens in the forums (unless another plugin is providing this feature for you). Best I can find is if someone replies to an Activity item created by someone posting on the forum.

@djpaul so sorry, you are right. I am using group email subscription – I was convinced it was core functionality (it feels like it should be). It’s @boonebgorges and @dwenaus plugin, I’ll see if I can find out more from them on their own support forum.

I agree probably should do it, but it ought to be implemented in the new version of bbPress rather than BuddyPress.
