New BuddyPress Geo plugin

We just put the first version of a BuddyPress location-based member directory into the repository. It can be used for distance based member searches and/or business directories.

It hasn’t seen a lot of real world testing, so if anyone wants to take it for a spin, that would be appreciated. It will probably only work on a very recent version of BP. If anyone has any issues, please drop a comment here and I’ll try and resolve them in short order.

    Thanks

    looks nice.

it’s kinda weird but when i active the plugin, it disbales all my own activated jquery code in my template.

    the search feature works good!

not working… when a user update the location field, your script stuck on calling google…

also, it’s very complicated to understand how to list all the fields on BP, we have to have at least one user who fill the fields so they are listed in the menus… have to fix that.

I’d like to use this on a current project I have, but being a BP/WPMU newbie, I’m a little lost about setting it up. I have it installed, I’m just not sure about what goes in the following fields:

“Which group contains the location information?”

“Which field represents each user’s location?”

“Which field represents a description for each user (i.e. ‘About Me’)?”

Any chance any one else has used this and could give me a quick breakdown of what they’re for, and how I’d go about setting them up. I would’ve posted on the BraveNewCode forums, but I guess those are down for a while. Also, I can’t find any documentation on the site for it.

I’m now using another 3rd party plugin for membership to the site (WP eMember). While it has its own table, it also creates a matching WP user for each of the members it creates. I was thinking of adding some code to add users to a group on creation of their profile, and then using this group as the group that “contains the location information”. Am I on the right track?

Thanks in advance for any help!

@bravenewcode I have to agree with @katendarcy. We have a field for address, city, state, country and postal code so, to which field(s) are you referring when you aks for the field representing “location” Please clarify. Additionally, please explain why you need “description for each user” for what purpose? Thanks
