Rich Text Pages for BP Groups and Profiles

I have long been on the hunt for a way to emulate the kind of information pages that this site uses to display plugin information. @boonegorges has developed a great plugin that integrates with the WP pages structure, but it doesn’t give many options for subnav display.
Is there a tutorial out there that explains how buddypress.org plugin pages were integrated into the groups component?
