Best Plugin for a points system

  • @jordashtalon

    Member

I’m looking to improve the user profile page and I want to be able to give my users points for doing good things in the community (e.g. posting, people “like” what they say, they upload an avatar etc..)

I also want to be able to show this data on the users profile page, and whenever they make a forum post and give them levels like on other forums (On Sitepoint you can grow your level from newbie to recruit to evangelist etc..).

I also want to be able to give Moderators Profiles a big improvement to make moderators profiles look really cool (to inspire other people to become mods)

I think this will help user participation alot.

Thanks for any suggestions, and i’d especially like to see examples of what other people are doing with buddypress.

@JordashTalon You should be able to do this with the coming-soon achievements plugin https://buddypress.org/community/groups/achievements/ It is super nice! Look for @DJPaul to release sometime soon.

    Thanks @nahummadrid

@JordashTalon There is some more detail on my Achievements plugin at http://byotos.com/. An alternative to Achievements is CubePoints, https://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/cubepoints/

    CubePoints
CubePoints is a point management system designed for WordPress blogs. Users can earn points by posting comments on your site. To display user’s points, just put “ in your template or activate the sidebar widget.

    CubePoints Buddypress Integration
Adds CubePoints support to Buddypress. Reward members using your BuddyPress portion of your website by giving them points!

    BuddyPress Member Profile Stats
Adds a few basic count stats and per day avg under member’s profile

You may see integration of the plugins on http://www.thechembook.com
    Profiles: http://www.thechembook.com/members/admin/profile/public/

When a member is logged into the site then the navigation bar shows the points, too.

The new points system will should allow certain privileges in the network depending on the punctuation achieved by users. This would be a well improved

Thanks for All the suggestions Cube Points seems to have all I need for now but I have a couple of questions about it, if anyone knows how to solve it:

Anyway here is a couple of questions:
    1. Is there anyway to add a text popup or something that says “Congratulations you just earned x points!” (like Yahoo Answers)
    2. I want to format ever users profile page like this: http://avatarthelastairbenderonline.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/10/Profile.jpg As you can see I’m probably going to need a list of Template Tags, Like the points which should be like you mentioned, and I’ll also need to find the code to display their rank and possibly rank image.
    3. This might be off topic, but how would I detect whether or not the user is a moderator on any forum on the profile page so I can display an image identifying them as a moderator?
    4. I also want to display the users stats in the Forum Posts, and on the sidebar in their User Control Panel (A Custom area I made once a user logs in:) see here for an example of how I am trying to get the forum topic to look: http://avatarthelastairbenderonline.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/10/Forum-Topic.jpg

Has anyone tried that kind of thing.

Any suggestions or tips would be appreciated.
