This occured after I updated some plugins that caused the whole dashboard to become Extinct.

i was able to restore from a backup, but I have not resolved this issue

Could you help me restore these backs?

Rule of thumb: disable all BuddyPress 3rd-party plugins and reactivate them one by one until you figure out the culprit.

Looks like you haven’t completed the compatiblity process with the BP Template Pack where you have to impose the HTML structure of your theme onto the BP folder/files transferred to your active WP theme – the church child theme of genesis I see.
