I had posted yesterday with a subject of Moving Buddypress which may have been misleading. The thread is here http://buddypress.org/community/groups/how-to-and-troubleshooting/forum/topic/moving-buddypress-1/.

According to the codex, I would think I could move within a multisite install

The note in 3 suggests that moving Buddypress is possible, but it was mentioned that it’s not typical. Any thoughts how to do this or should I try to recreate with a new database?

@pbarthmaier I did not find any issues when I moved BP from main site to subdomain blog id 3 in one installation way back BP 1.2++. I’m sure you know that you should always back up database and server files before making the change just to be safe

The only thing that would break is links in old activity as those are hard coded into the databases
