Loss of drop down menu function in WordPress backend when buddypress plugin installed

When I install the buddypress plugin the drop down menus on the left of the wordpress backend freezes up. It’s not that bad, but it will not let me adjust widgets at all. Any ideas?

I have deactivated all my plugins and re-installed wordpress 3.2.1. This did not work. I even re-installed buddypress and that didn’t help either.

I recall seeing that issue in WP.org forums for WP 3.2 and it was fixed for WP 3.2.1 with BP 1.2.9. One of plugins by WP core devs could also help you https://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/hotfix/
