Any way for a BuddyPress site to require new members to be approved first before gaining access to the site?

My network is new but has attracted the attention of spammers. They haven’t caused trouble (yet) but I would like to prevent this by requiring any new applicant to join be held in a queue for approval by an Admin.

My network was once on Ning, and this stopped all spammers. I looked around the Super Admin and Dashboard functions and cannot find a way to set registration to keep new members in an approval queue.

There’s a plugin for that but I don’t know if it’s working in 3.0.1
