How can I screen new sign ups before they have full access to the system? Only approved members should gain access to our community rather than anyone who signs up. Is this possible? Is there a plug-in that works on WP 3.0 and newest BP for this?

You can try this plugin as this pluging will do what you want “new user approve”

Don’t bother, it isn’t fully functional with BuddyPress…
