First, let me apologize for probably frustrating you with such a common issue!

I have tried to edit the files, and have successfully managed to get the content appear in the right place, but no matter what I try the sidebar still appears in the footer, rather than beside the main content.

I only edited the buddypress-header.php and buddypress-sidebar.php

I am using the latest versions of buddypress ad wordpress.

1. What Woo theme are you using? We have compiled a list of “template-packed” themes near bottom of https://codex.buddypress.org/theme-development/wordpress-to-buddypress-theme/

2. correct naming for the files needed for 2nd option of theme compatibility
buddypress-header.php should be header-buddypress.php
and
buddypress-sidebar.php should be sidebar-buddypress.php
Otherwise your changes will be implemented at all.

I am using Swatch.

I apologise, I put the wrong file names in this post, but the files are indeed named correctly on the server,.

I am having the same issue with the sidebar appearing in the footer in the Canvas theme. How can I get it into the correct place please

@pkmcilroy there are AJAX/JS conflicts with BP and Canvas Theme https://buddypress.org/community/groups/how-to-and-troubleshooting/forum/topic/woo-canvas-child-theme-customization-and-ajax/ Near the end of the topic, someone posted a link to a premium Canvas child theme which has BP compatibility. I will only suggest that if you’re going to purchase that child theme, wait till it’s been updated for BP 1.6 which will be coming out pretty soon.
