    @garrickbs

    Hello

    Please i really need help, I’ve applied the BP Theme Compatibility plugin and done the necessary steps, except for changing the layout. I’m lost.

    As per the plugin’s instruction, I’ve opened my page.php and have no idea what to do on the pages like activity/index.php/

    This is the contents of my page.php: http://pastebin.com/jF8TuVha

    I’ve been trying to figure out this for hours. Can’t wrap my brain around it. :/

    i could give my wp details if necessary, it a not for profit organization that inspire and unite children. Our workshops stimulate creativity and collaboration in unique and interesting ways, and our exhibitions unite the creative expressions from our workshops, bringing forth a powerful testament to the creative and collaborative potential of our world. i want a social network as part of the website

    Any help would be appreciated. Big Thanks!

  • You need to compare the markup used by your choice of theme on a page such as page.php to a BP page such as mentioned /activity/index.php your chosen theme dictates the markup that must be reflected in the BP template files – you do need a modicum of knowledge to be able to do this though but it’s not really technical knowledge just how to identify the main element differences and copy them to your BP template.

    Thankfully though these requests will be a thing of the past as soon as BP 1.7 drops and BP starts working with any theme people choose to use.

    If you’re still stuck no doubt mercime will revise your files for you in due course so have another shot at it and update this thread with the results.

    @garrickbs Open up your theme’s header.php, copy all code, paste code in pastebin.com, click submit, and post the generated URI here. Do the same for your theme’s page.php, index.php, sidebar.php and footer.php files, I want to see the whole picture.

    @mercime links to the pages

    index http://pastebin.com/deCyBbCW

    header http://pastebin.com/BdHGeJ3d

    page http://pastebin.com/jF8TuVha

    footer http://pastebin.com/mv6VnWDx

    Post http://pastebin.com/Wmx06pm1

    I added ‘post’ because the theme does not have a sidebar file, theme description says it’s dynamic, the post file was the easiest to understand on how the sidebar works.

    the theme is too complicated, i’m only using it because the UI is superb and it’s responsive.

    this is the website i’m working on: http://inspire.org.ng
    theme page: http://themes.rubenbristian.com/?theme=ikaros

    thanks a million for your help, dedicating so much time and resources to questions, i salute sir/madam. Thanks again.

    UI is Superb?? how so there are a number of pretty evolved frameworks on offer and many responsive if you want control from the backend, however to state ‘the theme is too complicated’ perhaps suggests it would have been better to choose one that was simpler ? as now the long suffering mercime has to try and work out these complexities on your behalf for free ;)

    Please be sure to thank mercime ( although you have in advance :) ) enormously for the help and perhaps consider a credit for the help she has given on the site?

    @mercime roll on 1.7!

    @hnla “long suffering mercime” ? BP 1.7 will be my knight in shining armor carrying me from template-packing madness on a large unicorn :-)

    @garrickbs you have the following options
    1. create only two files – but only have either page with sidebar OR fulll width for all your BP templates
    2. revise 16 template files – but still have to test whether the codes with option to make it full width or with sidebar per options page will work in BP templates

    I will presume #1 is your choice. ALL BP templates with sidebar or full width (no sidebar)?

    @mercime

    @garrickbs in order to post the instructions to make your theme compatible with BP, I need to know whether you choose all BP pages with sidebar OR all BP pages with full-width. Which one?

    @garrickbs

    @mercime I choose all BP pages with sidebar. #1
