User requesting resend of confirmation email

  • I have done LOTS of Google searching for the ability to have a user request a new confirmation email and have come up empty handed. I have found a mod to let me confirm or resend the email on behalf of the user, but this is not good enough. If the user can’t do it themselves without contacting “support” I am afraid they will be lost.

    Does anyone have a solution for this?

    updated information on email and the system asked for your password then changes it resetting it. causes users to have to reset a pass word, i have had to do this to this site 7 times that’s old.

    if this does this to my buddy press and im really debating to use this now on my site, i highly doubt this system makes it far on our end “just another flaw” should be the motto really, i mean come on does any really use this system now days?

    oh and the bug tracker is dead too, so im assuming ill never get support here. “just another dead site of word press”

    @elfirl That is not default behavior.
    – WP/BP versions?
    – Has this been happening since you first installed WP/BP or since an upgrade to WP/BP or since you installed a plugin or changed to a new theme?
    – Finally, have you done some basic troubleshooting like changing to bp-default and deactivating ALL plugins except BuddyPress to check what’s interfering with confirmation email?

    @paigestormblade the dev trac is not dead, you just need to log in with same username and password you used here. No need to be negative, we’re volunteers living in different time zones with lives outside of BP/WP just trying to help out others.

    There was only one forced password reset for the whole WP/BP community due to some breach within the last year. Curious what browser you’re using to log into WP/BP forums. I use either Firefox or Chrome and have had no issues like you’re having.

    Thanks for the reply. Just to make sure I am clear, when a user registers they get a confirmation email. I am just worried about users that do not. How would a user request the system send a new email? It is very possible that the ability is there, but I have overlooked it.

    WP version – 3.3.1
    BP version – 1.5.4

    This is a (fairly) new install and have only tried to resend the confirmation email since posting yesterday.

    I’m ashamed to say that I have not tried those troubleshooting suggestions yet. I will give those a try in a few minutes and see what I can find.

    At this point I am convinced that I have simply overlooked the ability to resend the confirmation email and that this isn’t something missing. Ill start turning things off and see if I am able to locate that.
