| About Me | My name is John and I am a freelance web designer with nearly a decade worth of experience working on a broad spectrum of different design projects. Since I started out as a web designer, I have seen a drastic shift in the changing landscape of the industry that has been fascinating to track and adapt to over the course of the decade. Just the other week I was looking back on some of the projects that I had worked on when I first started out as a web designer and my god are some of them embarrassing to look back on. At the same time however, it is also extremely interesting to look back on old projects and see how what has been made possible through web design has significantly changed. In particular, from a user experience standpoint, the advancement that websites have made is quite remarkable. One major difference that has to be factored into any modern day web design is how your website will look on other devices such as mobiles and tablets. Even in 2019, there are still businesses with a significant online presence that don’t have mobile responsive websites. The main reason for looking back over old projects was to try and find inspiration for the current project that I am working on – a e-commerce website for a supplier of commercial blenders. Another resource that I frequently turn to for sources of inspiration when hitting a block on a design project is online forums. These online communities are in my opinion a fantastic resource to utiise as a web designer as there are no shortage of contrasting ideas and opinions that are always fresh and exciting that you can then benefit from and successfully implement into your own work. Another reason why I really enjoy signing up for online forums with fellow like minded designers as myself, is that it also offers a two way form of communication that allows me to engage in conversations and input some of my own experiences into the community. |
