Turn on registrations in the backend. then you’ll see a “register” link show up on the front page.

3.0 features in the top bar? Like what? the menus are already built in the theme.

And you have to update your rewrite rules like the message says. Just look in htaccess for the /wp-content/blogs.php text and change it to wp-includes/ms-files.php.

this control serving the uploads so you kinda need to do ti.

I put it in as a trac ticket. Just waiting for that, or probably the 3.0 official release, then I’ll put out a zip for people to mangle.

Hmmm. I’ve seen other people waiting for the merge to use BuddyPress. Works fine on single WP already. Like JJJ said, it’s not for everyone. If the live server doesn’t have mod_rewrite actually working or reading the htaccess file, then no, none of the permalinks work – BuddyPress or not.

AllowOverride FileInfo Options has to be in the vhost in httpd.conf for the acount.

No, he means you installed mu in the /Case_study/ folder instead of the root. As in, right at /.
