Name | Anthony D Paul |
About Me | By day, I’m a user experience researcher, designer, and prototyper. By night, you’ll find me spread across the DC and Baltimore meetup scenes—notably at events for UX, accessibility, and a variety of open source development projects. I live and work in the DC/Baltimore corridor, offering strategic, design, and full-stack development skills to clients large and small, spanning government, non-profit, and commercial. I’d tell you about my cool side projects, or divulge something funny from my past, but these days the Internet does a better job of surfacing our embarrassing moments; find me anywhere by Googling “anthonydpaul”. |

WordPress Origin Story | I installed WordPress for the first time with Miles Davis (1.0) in early 2004 for my student design club. I’d dabbled in it prior to that, teaching myself PHP/MySQL through extending/hacking WordPress and PHPBB. Since then, I’ve used WordPress along with other PHP CMSes, to launch hundreds of sites. In 2008, the agency I worked for moved into a new space with a great meetup venue. I invited DC PHP, WordPress DC, and DC jQuery (now DCJS) to use our space and became a meetup organizer. That quickly snowballed into meetup speaker, WordCamp speaker, and WordCamp organizer. |
