In an older post on his website – thanks to Google cache – Bowe said – “And I’m also working on a something extremely secret called Infinity, which should make all you BuddyPress lovers really happy!” Ooo wee!

So as a relative newbie to the wordpress/buddypress community I subscribe to a number of sites for news, tips, etc. One of those sites, Bowe’s bp-tricks.com, appears to be undergoing a bit of maintenance. As of the writing of this post, the splash page displays an image of a re-designed interface and what appears to […]

ARHistoryHub posted on the forum topic Display default status update if the latest update function returns empty in the group How-To and Troubleshooting: 13 years, 6 months ago
So I figured it out. If anyone else wants to display a default status, only to the logged-in user on their profile if they have no current activity update, put this code in your member-header.php in your child theme.

ARHistoryHub posted on the forum topic Split members into admin defined caregories in the group How-To and Troubleshooting: 13 years, 6 months ago
While the greater minds continue to work on patch or plugin of some sort, I’ve simply added an additional profile drop down field with three member types and added a flyout to my main nav that queries the member directory for their answer to that particular field – “http://www.example.com/members/?s=Member Type X”. Not incredibly useful, but […]

Sounds like you just need to add some new css to your theme’s style sheet. Something like
#footer {
width: 100%;
}
…depending on what the div id is for your footer. I’d recommend familiarizing yourself with firebug (an extension for firefox) and/or the developer tools built into Google Chrome – very handy for troubleshooting style issues quickly. -
ARHistoryHub posted on the forum topic activity stream content in the group How-To and Troubleshooting: 13 years, 6 months ago
@norby500 Currently I have this in the blocked activity field – “new_blog_post, new_member, deleted_group_document” Of course the plugin won’t retroactively remove content from the activity stream, it will only work to block new attempts to write those particular activities.

ARHistoryHub posted on the forum topic Where do I add pictures? in the group BuddyPress Media: 13 years, 6 months ago
BP Media/BP Album is for front end media management through the user’s buddypress profile. So, navigate to the desired profile page and if BP Album is installed and activated correctly, it should appear in the user’s item-list-tabs as Album or something of the sort.

ARHistoryHub posted on the forum topic Display default status update if the latest update function returns empty in the group How-To and Troubleshooting: 13 years, 6 months ago
Am I getting warmer? The second part of the if – the && empty portion – doesn’t work as the “Update your status” message appears even when there’s an update present.

@Brooker Hmm, I’m running wp3.1.1/bp 1.2.8 and it seems to still be working fine. I’m blocking blog posts and new member registration without a problem. Obviously the plugin won’t continue to be supported and hasn’t been updated in some time.

ARHistoryHub posted on the forum topic Extending BuddyPress Rate Forum Posts to rate blog posts in the group Creating & Extending: 13 years, 6 months ago
Noooo, it’s still very much wanted. Well, I wasn’t using buddypress back when this topic first started, but this could be a powerhouse of a plugin for lots of communities. I’ve been working on a teacher resource site for some time as part of my job with a state history agency and this plugin (and […]

Have you tried re-installing bbPress in the Forums Setup menu (under the buddypress menu) in the dashboard? What versions of WP/BP are you using?

Easiest way is using the BuddyPress Block Activity Stream Types plugin by Rich Fuller – https://buddypress.org/community/groups/buddypress-block-activity-stream-types/

I’ve been trying to figure out how to display default text (only to the logged in member) if a member has no profile activity updates. My thinking is that some text – something like “Update your status below to display text here to the community…” – would encourage new members to update their status upon […]

Could you be more specific? Buddypress is set up to integrate with bbPress, so I assume you mean plugins to enhance this existing set up.
I’m a fan of Forum Attachments and Group Forum Extras – both of which are available through the extend/plugin directory on this site. - Load More
