I just installed 1.1.1 on my system – when I try to remove a profile preference, it just adds it again – yes, I am hitting the RED X.
Is this a known issue?

Works great! create a new .php file in the plugins folder called : bp-custom.php.
Enter in the code and it works! -

I may have found a bug with BP @ mentions. if a user has the same name, but less one character, and mention both users, the shorter character name is only mentioned (twice). ie., @chanyman and @chanyma
