Thanks @mercime . I was missing the search loop – it was mentioned in the functions, but I didn’t see a note to add the associated file to my child theme.

If you don’t mind, can you tell me where is your site hosted or what kind of set-up you have? It is pretty fast – my buddypress set-up runs much slower.

I’m with you mrwolfy, I see the search functionality that comes in the header area with bp-default will work – though I would like to be able to modify it – but if you use the wordpress search widget, or the search box that shows up when something isn’t found, I get pushed back to the activity page (home page for me). The same happens on this site if you use the search box at the top – you’ll get thrown back to the home page.

I found a plugin at http://buddydev.com/plugins/buddypress-sitewide-activity-widget/ but it wouldn’t list posts for me. It seems to list everything but. Any advice anyone?

Morning! Sorry, I meant the former – the information that shows up on mysite.com/activity. I haven’t written on the Gravity Forms support yet, but I did get a response saying that BuddyPress doesn’t use ‘the_excerpt’ for the activity stream.
`About “the_excerpt”, you’ll need to create a plugin by hooking into the filters available in /buddypress/bp-blogs/bp-blogs-activity.php. It might be good for BP to use the_excerpt by default, but a new enhancement ticket should be created for that.`

Wondering how I could implement/take advantage of this as I’ve never created a plugin as was suggested..

Any luck with this? I’d like to add that option to posts, but not having any luck with that either. It’s available in the activity stream, but not on individual posts. I copied the code for it from the entry.php file in the activity folder, but when used on other pages it results in a 404 when clicked.
