In reply to: Change what url ‘Create and account’ links to.
@Craiglovelock – the “create an account” link is in the sidebar.php file.
Line 37
Seen Here: https://buddypress.trac.wordpress.org/browser/trunk/bp-themes/bp-default/sidebar.php#L37@Craiglovelock – you will have to figure out how to insert a custom textfield into the wordpress registration page and then insert a “name” field (sorry, cant help more since i have never touched the wordpress registration form)
Since you have disabled the buddypress registration form and you have given wordpress back control over it, you may get better answers on the wordpress.org forums.
In reply to: Publish a activity at that member’s profile@tiagobeloto
Woops. half my reply didn’t post
Theirs also this tutorial which allows others to post to your activity stream – http://buddydev.com/buddypress/using-activity-as-wire-in-buddypress-1-2-themes/ (this one should allow people to comment on them)In reply to: Help Modifying WordPress Theme “hello :D”you can go back the the wordpress toolbar by adding
define( ‘BP_USE_WP_ADMIN_BAR’, true ) to your bp-custom.php file – https://codex.buddypress.org/extending-buddypress/bp-custom-php/The buddybar is being depreciated, so it’s no longer worth messing around with it to get it perfect (and the wordpress toolbar is alot cooler lookin’)
In reply to: Help Modifying WordPress Theme “hello :D”@illusionApp – what exactly isn’t working? is the sidebar not aligned correctly? or…?
We have some codex entries that might also help – https://codex.buddypress.org/theme-development/bp-template-pack-walkthrough-level-easy-2/
In reply to: a brand new gaming social network@djbnotts – what are you using to redirect users?
David Carson (from Frisco)’s method has been working well for me – http://pastebin.com/rgJ6BQc8
You may want to try that… Just add !is_front_page() above !bp_is_register_page() and it will block all pages that are not home, register and activation pages from being viewed by loggedout users.and to redirect them home, remove the /join from bp_core_redirect
In reply to: Publish a activity at that member’s profile@tiagobeloto in version 1 we had a ‘wire’ feature that enables a user to post on a friends profile… It was eventually depreciated but It’s been turned into a plugin by BuddyDev.
Here is the bp-wire for putting the Buddypress wire back to Buddypress 1.2
In reply to: Filterable member directory via profile fields.@Lindsayannb – Essentially what you would want to do is utilise the built in “search_terms” parameter (which your already using for the profile fields links) and modifying the searchterm based on what is selected via the dropdown menu – https://codex.buddypress.org/developer-docs/custom-buddypress-loops/the-members-loop/
Haven’t looked indepth into this specific loop yet, (and i’m not sure if it will work on a directory page) but their is a profile field loop which might help… (https://codex.buddypress.org/developer-docs/custom-buddypress-loops/the-profile-data-loop-bp_has_profile/)
@FuriousCigars Sometimes the simplest things get overlooked.

As an alternative option: If you really want the pages to be as a child, creating a new page with the slug /community/ and putting them as a child of that page should work (it works here at bp.org).Don’t sweat it. It’s understandable. i get frustrated alot too. Just remember that their are people here willing to help (sometimes, you just need to bump your topic afew times, because sometimes we miss topics when we sleep, and when it was posted early on in the night and hasn’t been bumped recently, we assume the issue’s been resolved.)
@FuriousCigars – Try moving the Members and groups pages into its own root page rather than as a child of activities… the activity directory hogs the url structure…
@FuriousCigars – Sorry, i end up making fun of comments when i get offended (i have anger-management issues and it’s my way of keeping it under control).Making a (well, what i thought sounded like a) smart alec comment about nobody caring because they didn’t immediately repy to previous postings of yours is offensive. We are ALL (except for one or two of the core developers who are hired by Automattic to ensure the project runs smoothly) volunteers here, I spend countless hours each day (and i know alot of others do too) voluntarily attempting to help people when i can. and when someone says i don’t care, it’s offensive. I’m sorry, like i said it’s my way of keeping my anger-management issues under control.
Anyways. Back to the topic: 404 errors. So that i’m not repeating what you have already tried… do you mind listing everything you have tried? it’s really difficult NOT repeating things when you dont know what has already been said…. or what the problem is.
In reply to: Multiple Account Typestheirs some really helpful code in here which sounds exactly like what your after – https://buddypress.org/community/groups/how-to-and-troubleshooting/forum/topic/interactive-profile-fields-during-registration/
This should work.
Add it to your bp-custom.php file.@FuriousCigars – My apologies, i didn’t realize that me taking 10 minutes out of my time to try and help meant i couldn’t make a laugh out of a silly comment you made…
I am a buddypress user just like you. I post here and try and help others who are having trouble because i’d expect them to do the same for me. I didn’t need to attempt to help you and thus i dont appreciate you claiming that i post garbage. Thank You. It’s people with attitudes like yours that cause others not to help around here.
Have a good night. Hope you figure it out.
In reply to: Firefox error1. from a quick firebugging it seems to be the overflow: hidden on your #container causing the damage.

2. You may want to have a look at this – https://codex.buddypress.org/developer-docs/custom-buddypress-loops/the-activity-stream-loop/
@FuriousCigars “I doubt anyone here is really worried about my one site” I’m worried. Not about you deactivating buddypress, that’s your problem… but i am worried about your site

Firstly, have you read through the codex? https://codex.buddypress.org/troubleshooting/navigation-links-return-404-errors/
Secondly, are you running any other WordPress plugins? Their usually the common cause of 404 errors (in my experience). If you can, deactivate them all (except for buddypress) and see if the problem gets resolved. if it is resolved start reactivating them all one by one to find the culprit.
In reply to: Template tags@DJpaul it is hooked into wordpress’ function, so yeah, nothing was missed (…i think)
lolI was just curious as to why it exists in the first place as i was looking through the bp default theme and noticed it in the header.php file. is it just an old function from the golden days, or should buddypress themes use that function instead of get_bloginfo?
In reply to: BuddyPress as Intranet on the InternetHaven’t used SharePoint so i’m not much of a big help.
But, for collaboration/document sharing i’d use https://buddypress.org/community/groups/buddypress-docs/ as it states on the plugin description “think of these Docs as a BuddyPress version of the Docs service offered by the Big G ifyouknowwhatimean”
and; well, discussions are pretty much built into buddypress
In reply to: Modifying the Registration Page and how it worksAnytime, so – you can either enter what you want them to see between thoes lines, or; if you really want to redirect them you can use the bp_core_signup_user action
Source: http://wordpress.stackexchange.com/questions/18301/redirect-after-registration-in-buddypress (untested)
In reply to: BuddyPress as Intranet on the Internet@1lwebstudio that’s a difficult question to answer… are you a modeling company who requires images of your models? are you an accounting company that requires a built-in calculator and money management system?
One that i’d suggest is https://buddypress.org/community/groups/bp-gtm-system/ that will enable your employees to keep tracks of all your internal projects. But other than that, without knowing your company it’s difficult to suggest other plugins.
In reply to: Redirect users to different pages after loginThe ‘theme my login’ plugin ( https://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/theme-my-login/ )
Has a ‘redirect after login’ module, you could create a new role on your site, calling it something like “auto-activated members” with the same capabilities as your default role and then use that plugin to redirect users in that role to a different page?In reply to: Edit the mention page?If the page your talking about is the single activity view (with a url something like example.com/activity_slug/p/43/) The file your looking for is members/single/activity/permalink.php
But; This will change it for all the single activity views not just mentions.
In reply to: [Resolved] How To Edit SubNavThe best way to modify the text is by creating a language file which is described in depth at the codex entry here – https://codex.buddypress.org/extending-buddypress/customizing-labels-messages-and-urls/
In reply to: Quoted repliesTheir’s this for standalone bbpress forums – https://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/bbpress-quotes/
and theirs this for groups forums – https://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/buddypress-group-forum-extras/
In reply to: Modifying the Registration Page and how it worksIt doesn’t redirect anywhere. It simply shows a new message based on what their doing.
The “check your email” message is between lines 228 and 244 of /registration/register.php
