There may be some plugins available that do some of this, but I haven’t kept up on it. I think some get close, but not exactly what you’re talking about. I think they do pieces. That said, it’s pretty easy to add this using the BP Group API: https://codex.buddypress.org/developer-docs/group-extension-api/ It can ask for information at […]

techguy started the forum topic Not Applying Settings from Admin in the group Seo for Buddypress: 14 years, 6 months ago
I turned on the latest version of this plugin, but it doesn’t seem to be pulling the settings from the admin. Either that or I’m just not quite understanding how this plugin is applying those settings. Here’s a simple example. I have the following settings for the Group Home Title: %%componentname%% | %%sitename%% If you […]

My emails weren’t being sent, but when I upgraded to the latest version, the emails started flowing. Last night it actually flowed in duplicate. If tonight it’s still duplicate or moves to triplicate, I’ll let you know.

@jcmartin
Why are you looking for a shared host? I don’t think any shared hosts have 128MB RAM. You’ll probably have to go with a VPS like LW or many of the other options to get to that level. -

techguy posted on the forum topic Can Group Admin receive email notifications when group activity occurs? in the group How-To and Troubleshooting: 14 years, 6 months ago
Lots of ways. Some easier than others.
One way might be to use the Group Email Subscription plugin: https://buddypress.org/community/groups/buddypress-group-email-subscription/
You can have your settings at sending immediate activity and it will get emailed to you.

I must be missing something since I’ve had this working on a test install before. I’ve enabled the email filtering and I’ve made the changes to the specific emails that I want to have a different text, but it’s still using the old text. Am I forgetting something? I’m using WP 3.0 and the latest […]

@mikepratt Hey, I heard you mention in your WordCamp presentation that you put text at the bottom of your PM message emails so people knew to respond on the site and not to the email itself. I’d love to get the text you’ve found to be effective and did you use Welcome Pack or some plugin like that to make it happen?

I think that Dreamhost is a shared webhost and so I don’t think you’ll likely ever see lightning fast load speeds with a shared host. A VPS would be a better alternative if you’re concerned about the speed.

Ok, so maybe I don’t know Facebook’s process. Which I guess makes sense since I didn’t have them pull my address book. Do they present you a list of email addresses with them all checked when you choose to pull your address book? - Load More
