Does BP.org support the upload? I think you have to do a gravatar if you want an avatar, no?

I hadn’t been able to test it completely, but I believe I’d been setting it to Daily Digest and it wasn’t applying to everyone either. I just hadn’t had time to completely test it, so I hadn’t mentioned it yet. I’ll try and test more later.

@Bowromir I’d be interested to hear what non-profit you’re working on. I see in your description it’s CF? I’m meeting my friend who has CF on Friday coincidentally. I also am a HUGE fan of the 2 girls with CF that have been on America’s Got Talent:…[Read more]

It is indeed a social network for people with Cystic Fibrosis! I have CF myself and for the last year or so I’ve worked on getting this project of the ground. If you’re familiar with CF you might know the segregation rules which make it almost impossible for people with CF to meet each other in real life. Before I started with this I’ve been…[Read more]

@bowromir I’ve built a bunch of custom elements to track the payments. It’s really one of the keys to the product. I track who contributed, which organization they contributed to and which person referred them to the site to contribute. Plus, I created the tools (with more on the way) for them to send out links […]

Ok, I looked into this some more. The localization function just needs to be lowered in the bp-activity-subscription.php file for it to load. I’m not sure why it’s not loading where it is now, but when I moved it down to the last item in the file it loaded with no problems. Also, it is […]

Thanks mercime. I love frisbee, so it was fun to get some cool shots. I don’t think it’s so much about what BrainTree has that others don’t, but I did find it really easy to implement. I evaluated a half dozen other options and they all were harder and some felt pretty shady. I certainly […]

Pretty cool. I just had a story which highlighted my 2 BuddyPress sites: http://www.lasvegasbusinesspress.com/articles/2010/08/24/news/iq_37502429.txt Not to mention a couple cool pictures of me laying out for a frisbee.

“until your database explodes”
I’d watch that. Is that like the “Will it blend” session they’re having at WordCamp Utah?

@paulhastings0 Where are they talking about a BuddyCamp? I like that idea!

I’m having trouble finding the original post. I belive @jeffsayre new something about that. I feel like it was going to be held in Colorado.

BuddyCamp is still a kernel of an idea. It was something @mikepratt and I were working on about a year ago. Our initial idea was to hold the first one in Chicago as at the time it was convenient to the both of us. No other plans are in the works at this time.

techguy posted on the forum topic Why is it a bad idea to copy "bp-default" theme? in the group How-To and Troubleshooting: 15 years, 3 months ago
Boone, On BP updates, any files you add to your child theme you’ll have to compare against the update and manually update them with the new features right? So, if I overwrite header.php in my child theme, then when BP updates, I’ll have to compare my header.php with the new release to see if I […]

Thanks for all the great feedback. I think I will be avoiding a demo. This is in the developer track, so I’m going to have to try and balance features and functions with demoing cool sites. Should be fun!

Can’t you just change name to “first name” and then add another field called “last name” and then you’d have it the way you describe.

I think including a POT file would be helpful. I’m not sure if that’s standard, but I’d think it should be. You might also take a look at the javascript stuff (ie. changing your subscription preference). I’m thinking maybe it’s not pulling the translated items. Maybe an issue with the way the javascript is loaded […]

I started this group on the site to talk about BuddyPress hosting: https://buddypress.org/community/groups/buddypress-hosting/forum/ It could still use some more submissions from people who use BuddyPress and their hosting environments/experience, but it’s a good start. - Load More
