techguy started the forum topic BuddyPress Presentation at WordCamp Utah (and Las Vegas) in the group Miscellaneous: 15 years, 4 months ago
I’m working on a presentation I’m going to do next week at WordCamp Utah on “Why BuddyPress Rocks” I’d love to get feedback from other BuddyPress users on topics/ideas that I should be sure to cover in my presentation. I’m all about crowdsourcing presentations and so I welcome any feedback people have on my message. […]

It’s probably in your theme file under index.php or footer.php Although, I couldn’t see what you’re talking about really. At least not at the bottom of the page. Also, the toolbar thing at the bottom isn’t working quite right in Google Chrome. The display is off.

It took me a minute to find the site you were talking about. I assume you mean: http://ilivewithadisability.com/ I think there’s definitely an interest level in a site like that. I think the challenge you’ll have is helping the various niches to really shine. I have a feeling the people are going to strongly relate […]

@bpuser44 It’s really simple. I did it as one page template that was set as the home page. Then, in the page template you just add this code: if ( is_user_logged_in() ) { //Content you want people to see if they’re logged in } else { //Content you want people to see if they’re not logged […]

Almost always multiple ways to do it in WordPress. Depends on what type of changes you might want to make in the future.

Just create a child theme: https://codex.buddypress.org/how-to-guides/building-a-buddypress-child-theme/
Then, you’ll want to overwrite the header.php file on line 79. Here’s the documentation for the wp_list_pages: https://codex.wordpress.org/Function_Reference/wp_list_pages the exclude parameter should work for you. If you don’t know the…[Read more]

Sounds like you can do pretty much everything you want to do with 2 themes. One theme would be for the main site. The second theme would apply to all the subsites. With the theme you’ll be able to add links for users on the subsite to go to the main sites forum. In fact, […]

@rogercoathup I’ve added you to my BuddyPress Twitter list. I’d be happy to add anyone else that’s interested and tweets about BuddyPress.

@keneticimages Actually it’s all pretty much a custom integration with BrainTree as the payment processor. Here’s basically what I did:
-Redirect after user account creation to the secured cc page (just a page template)
-Process cc on that page using BrainTree’s API
-After processing a successful contribution I redirect to another “Thank You”…[Read more] -

It seems that most people have just posted the jobs in the forums. I think there use to be a place, but if I remember right it’s gone or not functioning now. Once you post the job, the mods will usually lock your thread. I’d reach out to some developers too. There easy to find […]

I needed this same function since I needed to change all the references to group in the plugin. It’s my first time creating a po and mo for a plugin. I actually got 90 strings that needed to be changed when I did it. I used this page to walk me through creating it: https://codex.wordpress.org/User:Skippy/Creating_POT_Files […]

I’ve implemented this on a bunch of different sites and registered hundreds of users with no problems. You’re right that it doesn’t send a notification about them joining a group, but it definitely will add them to the group regardless of the status of the group.

Yes it is possible. Did you need the blog to be the root blog or is it another subdomain or subfolder blog? There are a number of different options depending on how you’ve setup the blog and which blog you mean.

I’ve never seen a plugin that can do this. This plugin hooks onto the comment action: https://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/subscribe-to-comments/ So, it might be a good place to start to write a new plugin.

techguy posted on the forum topic Limit registration to users with email from a certain domain? in the group How-To and Troubleshooting: 15 years, 4 months ago
You can use BP on a regular WP install. Just there are certain features (like the domain limiting) that come with WP multisite that aren’t available on the single install. You can always upgrade your regular wordpress install to multisite and then use it like a single WP install. That’s what I’m doing right now.
