This is addressed 100 times on here. You have to enable registrations to make it stop redirecting. In the admin it’s under General->Settings for WP and under Options for WPMU.

It took me a second to get the recycle symbol. I thought they were birds at first. Then, I got they were arrows. Then, I saw the tagline and made the connection. Maybe if it were more triangle I would have gotten it quicker.

The beta release of the BP oembed plugin I think will allow pictures to be embedded from outside sources in profile fields. It’s not an upload, but might be better than an upload depending on what you’re doing.
