That will be awesome @bowromir I look forward to it since I’ve wanted to implement it, but haven’t had time to test it all. A tutorial to start with would be great. Hopefully you’ll offer your post for the codex as well and put a link at the bottom of the codex article to your original […]

Yes, I think a blurb of some sort by the new items would make sense. Even just a “Start Shopping – Click on The Newest Products Below” would help. I’d also move the “New In the Shops” image to the left of the new items. I think that will help people understand the images at […]

I’d love for someone who’s using W3 Total Cache successfully on their blog to do a blog post on what/how they implemented it. Or even better would be to create a Codex page on the best way to implement it and which options to turn off. Plus, whoever does it will get the benefit of […]

techguy posted on the forum topic Creating a Buddypress site that functions like a ning.com site in the group How-To and Troubleshooting: 14 years ago
For the most part. You’d have to mention specific features and functions to know whether it matches all of the features you’re thinking of or not. There have been many people who have moved their ning network over to BuddyPress. Although, it depends on which features of Ning you think are important. The BP Media […]

I have to agree with modemlooper. When I hit the landing page I don’t know what to do. I like the look of the site, but it’s not clear what I should do or where I should click. Some clear “Sell Goods” and “Start Shopping” sections would be good, so I could know that those […]

@junebob I agree it’s unfortunate, but this isn’t an error on other BP intalls. Just BP.org. Not to mention that most BP installs don’t have a million users the way BP.org does. I’m sure boone will eventually fix this too on BP.org.

@boonebgorges @boonebgorges The people @cloudsponge may be contacting you about integrating their product with Invite Anyone. Something I would love to see happen. Hopefully they offer to do the code for you. Then, just have an option to turn it on/off.

techguy posted on the forum topic How to determine if a BP-generated page is being shown in the group Installing BuddyPress: 14 years ago
Interesting question. I’m not sure there’s an overall is_bp() type of function that you can call. You might have to list all the specific BP components. Or maybe it’s easier to say it’s not a WP blog.

This has been an issue forever I think. Try a gravatar. It works!

Maybe @apeatling can help with this. The WP plugin search isn’t very good. I’ve had this happen with lots of different plugins actually.

techguy posted on the forum topic Different Ways of Inviting in the group Invite Anyone: 14 years ago
I just found Cloud Sponge: http://www.cloudsponge.com/ Free through May I believe, but $25/month after that or $275/year. Probably a little steep for most people, but nice that you don’t have to update it with each API.
I’m going to suggest they make a plugin that plugs into Invite Anyone. What do you think?

Not to take this thread too far off subject, but I agree that there is a lot of sleeze involved in the affiliate world. There’s even some sleeze in the Bluehost affiliate program as we saw from the spammers to this site. The most sleeziest affiliates in my book are those whose only method to […]

Yes. Might make more sense to have it available on the screen after they activate their account. Although, maybe the idea was to give them something to do while they waited for the activation email to arrive. I think it would also be good to have the function to upload an avatar be available to […]

hnla, so you’re turned off to a business because they have an affiliate program. That’s funny. Affiliate programs when done right can be great since it passes on the money that a company would have used to obtain a customer to someone else who referred the customer. Certainly there are other methods to get customers, […]
