techguy posted on the forum topic Why not leave ”points” to CubePoints? in the group Achievements: 14 years ago
@sadr
I like your idea of a site exploratation meter. I’ve seen something similar done on this non WP/BP site: http://www.greedyorneedy.com/ with great success. They basically just have the meter work based on the points that you gain. So, you could use the Achievement points to create a meter like this pretty easily I think. -
techguy posted on the forum topic Setting Not ”Saving”…. in the group SeoPress: 14 years ago
I haven’t had any issues with it not saving, but I haven’t made many changes to the defaults yet.
I did notice that the button on the bottom isn’t working, but the save button on the top is (at least on the General SEO page).

I finally got around to doing this and it seems to have switched fine. The | was converted to its ascii character, but when I saved the options again it corrected that.

techguy posted on the forum topic VBulletin in the group Creating & Extending: 14 years ago
Do a search for BBPress import from vBulletin and see what turns up. Right now BP just uses BBpress as the forum. Forums are tied to groups in BP, unless you use a standalone BBPress install. There is no bridge for vBulletin right now, but as BBPress is getting redone I think the idea is […]

techguy posted on the forum topic BP_AVATAR_THUMB_WIDTH BP_AVATAR_THUMB_HEIGHT Used in BP 1.2.6 Update in the group How-To and Troubleshooting: 14 years ago
I guess the other weird part is that in the 2 changes where it was moved to those configuration settings, it changes from 2 different sizes (25×25 and 60×60) to one size (BP_AVATAR_THUMB_WIDTH BP_AVATAR_THUMB_HEIGHT). I’m not really complaining about the change and I certainly could have tried this before the release and seen the potential […]

When I was testing the upgrade to 1.2.6, I found that there were 2 little changes to the default theme where the avatars are displayed for the activity stream: https://trac.buddypress.org/changeset?new=3296%40branches/1.2/bp-themes/bp-default&old=3124%40branches/1.2/bp-themes/bp-default#file11 I tried to find the tickets that corresponded to these…[Read more]

I’d definitely look at s2member. It hijacks the normal user creation process and that’s probably why it doesn’t have the capability.

techguy posted on the forum topic Will upgrading to 1.2.6 BP break some of my plug-ins that worked on 1.5.2? in the group How-To and Troubleshooting: 14 years ago
I’d guess that many of them will work on the new version of 1.2.6, but certainly there are some that will break with the upgrade. So, you should do a test upgrade on a test system and see what breaks and what doesn’t before upgrading on a production site. Oh, and be sure to have […]

Also, if you want to do paid subscriptions you should really look at using the s2member plugin. It’s as simple and straightforward as you’re going to find to set up a paid section of BuddyPress.

techguy posted on the forum topic Template Tag "is_user_in_group()" ??? in the group Creating & Extending: 14 years ago
Since you saved me the time looking for this, I’ll throw in the other 2 I already knew:
groups_is_user_mod( $bp->loggedin_user->id, $bp->groups->current_group->id)
groups_is_user_admin( $bp->loggedin_user->id, $bp->groups->current_group->id)Plus, that’s the code to get the logged in userid and current groupid.

@djpaul Could you describe a little more what makes it happen? In the case above, I’m calling messages_new_message() on an admin page when it loads based upon the variables that are being passed into that page. I don’t actually call messages_new_message() until the page is about half loaded. Is messages_new_message() returning some data before the…[Read more]

I’m trying to do the following BP command in one of my plugins:
messages_new_message( array( 'recipients' => $recipients, 'subject' => $subject, 'content' => $message ) );
The PM message seems to send fine and the email gets sent, but it’s giving me the following errors: Warning: Cannot modify header information – headers already sent by… -

BuddyDev’s paid Album plugin does some of this functionality. Probably not a perfect fit, but does a lot of the stream posting of content like this.
