We have no idea what site you might be referring to when you say “some buddypress site.” I think I know what you mean, which the answer is http://jetpack.me/, but that’s a total guess.

We’re trying hard for a beta in June.
You can get the current development version from https://svn.buddypress.org/trunk. You’ll need a SVN client.

Unfortunately, 1&1 is full of crap. It’s not a trick, and it does work. Your third option is to find a better host.

Sounds like you’ve tried the right thing (https://codex.wordpress.org/Editing_wp-config.php#Increasing_memory_allocated_to_PHP). Try allocating more than 64Mb, or ask your host for help.

I don’t understand what you’re trying to say. What doesn’t adjust? Do you see the picture which you uploaded on the cropping screen? Does the cropper work?
