I’ve just put a patch on that ticket for the “bb forum thing” so hopefully that will make BP 1.2.6. You’ll have to manually clean up any orphan forums.

Whilst you say you have a VPS with 768 Mb of RAM, how much is allocated to PHP?

Assuming you’ve got the field names correct, and the user in question has updated their profile with a value for this new profile field, it ought to work. It’ll only work on profile pages, as it needs to know what the current “displayed user” is.

We suggest that you re-register a name without a space in. We can’t just change in the database as it is shared with some of Automattic’s other WordPress websites.

I’ve replied to a thread you’ve made about these issues. The error around bp_page_title is because you’re trying to use BuddyPress (or, at least, its default theme) on a site that isn’t running the BuddyPress plugin. Let’s talk in the thread.

If buddypress is in the subdomain and its signup is working correctly, why is it affecting the main site’s wp register? Do I need to activate bp on the main site? This isn’t a straightforward issue to resolve. I’m not sure, but try setting this in your wp-config.php:

We’re aware of the unable to change avatar issue on this website, and it is in hand. If, like the original poster’s message, you get the original message on an install of BuddyPress, check the directory owner/permissions.

A link like that won’t break the site. It must be something else. Is this something new since you’ve installed a plugin (other than BuddyPress) or changed theme? Most likely, I’d guess it’s an PHP memory error.

If you’ve got your htaccess file (or equivalent) rewriting the URL to prefix everything with “index.php”, I’m not sure why it doesn’t work with the activation link.
If you disable Welcome Pack, and register a new user, does the problem remain?
