Works for me ok on BP 1.2.6 (i.e. BP 1.2 branch). What versions of BP and WP are you using please?

Everything’s enabled, including page caching which I would personally not recommend because a lot of BuddyPress pages need to be dynamic. The workaround for this employed on testbp is for a very short page expiration cache (5 minutes, IIRC).

In what situations do you need to remove ‘ characters? They should be safe throughout BuddyPress, otherwise it’s a bug.

Ah hah, nicework @tryggvib! Depending on how (well-) written the WordPress plugin is, sometimes you can get conflicts when things load in areas of BuddyPress where they don’t need to, and conflicts happen. I run into this quite often with plugins that load Javascript.

BuddyPress categories and tags? Are you referring to a feature provided by a plugin or are you referring to the categories and tags that come with regular WordPress?

I have no means to test this but if this is an issue with BP 1.2.5.2, please would someone who has this issue report it as a bug on http://trac.buddypress.org? You can use the same username/password as you do for this site to log in. Thanks

What version of BuddyPress are you running, Tom? This works as it should on http://testbp.org/ which I believe is running what will become BuddyPress 1.2.6.

Known issue. I think there’s a fix in what will be BP 1.2.6, I can’t check at the moment.

If I get time after work I’ll write up the URI handling process, it’s not something I can knock out in 5 minutes. So, I’m assuming you’re using stock BP 1.2.5.2, and the BP-Default theme (which you do not need to move into /themes/)? And only the BuddyPress plugin active?

Look at BuddyPress’ bp_blogs_update_option_blogname() function for an example of how to do it.

We only close threads in the main support groups if it is a lengthy thread which goes off-topic, if it’s a duplicate of another very recent thread or if someone posts on something like a 6+ months old post.

Of course, individual Group admins can do what they like in their Group forums.

Another option is to use/create a widget, something like https://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/user-bio-widget/ perhaps (untested).
