BuddyPress needs groups and forum in the URL so as to understand the URL properly. You can’t remove them, but you could rename them.

List at the top of.. what? Do you mean the Groups Directory? i.e. example.com/groups. If so, that Directory doesn’t show Hidden groups. Need a bit more detail to help you 🙂

Just make a group called, for example, “General Chat”, and you could link to its forum page in your main nav. If you make this a Public group, anyone going to post will automatically be joined into that Group

Oh, it’s not too hard actually. Add the wp_nav_menu call, and then the “Menu” styles from TwentyTen – i.e. the #access stuff.

If you can conjure it up or even do a patch, I could see it getting into BP 1.3.

Not necessarily, wp_nav_menu() is the function to load any WordPress menu (as introduced in 3.0). I’m not sure how to do this, I haven’t looked into it.

Digging into this, we ought to create a ticket to get BP 1.3 to use wp_nav_menu()

Hohum. With the Groups API, it’s just a case of storing a different setting for each group… this is very typical use case and is straightforward to day for an experienced programmer.. We close threads if people are looking for work, and ask them to contact you directly if anyone is interested. Will leave open […]

Rename /plugins to /somethingelse, and you should get back into /wp-admin.

Do you mean like nested Pages in the main nav? If so, not by default.
