I don’t believe Giving WordPress its own directory works with BuddyPress showing up in the root when your WP is actually in the directory. Much like WP Multisite won’t work when you give WP its own directory. Calling on devs @DJPaul @boonebgorges @johnjamesjacoby. Is this a warning we should also add in Codex?

Hey @DJPaul, thanks for the reply. The followers plugin is great. I use it myself on our installation. I guess what I’m hoping is that management of friends/followed might someday be possible via user defined “collections” (to use the language of the #Elgg platform). In Elgg – which I decided against mainly for usability reasons – these…[Read more]

thanks @DJPaul , somehow I missed this plugin. Yes, it includes two very good plugins, unfortunatelly, bp translate is left without support, but first, what I am faced with after activation is some mistake with flags path “Incorrect Flag Image Path! Please correct it!”. if someone will try this plugin too, I have WPMU 3.0.3 + […]

@yakster, I also have this issue with my groups.
Same with deleting users….. It’s not my plugins causing problems.
maybe @hnla, @mercime, @r-a-y @boonebgorges, or @apeatling, @crashutah, @DJPaul, could assist us.

@DJPaul Hey Paul, wondering if you can expand a little on what you are referring to in this comment: https://buddypress.org/community/groups/how-to-and-troubleshooting/forum/topic/possible-to-add-another-friends-list/#post-21485. When researching options for our social network, I first dug into Elgg which has the ability to create friend lists and…[Read more]

Hi Matt.
I think I was referring to the fact that at the moment, relationships in BuddyPress core are one-to-one; both people must have each other as a friend. You can’t have a one-sided relationship (a “follower” or a “fan”) in core, but have a look at https://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/buddypress-followers/.-

I would like to see one day better or perhaps more dynamic relationship mapping in core, but it’s not on the roadmap for the next version. Ditto something similar with privacy. I’m stil waiting with everyone else to see how Jeff’s plugin works.

@hnla, @mercime, @boonebgorges, @DJPaul @r-a-y, Hello, I use a custom theme with buddypress. I need some assistance on getting the functions to work! For example, on the profiles, after the “@%username%”, with the little question mark, normally, the “@% is a unique identifier for % that you can type into any message on this site. % will be sent a […]

@DJPaul Hi Paul, for your achievements plugins would it be possible to allow users to achieve new roles based on their achievements? So for example if a user makes 20 comments they get the Trusted Member achievement and then are moved into a Trusted Member role (created by a custom role plugin such as Members). This would be really awesome, as I…[Read more]

Any updates or thoughts on this. Thanks.

This would require some custom code being written. You could use the ‘dpa_achievement_unlocked’ action for example, and use the passed achievement_id to check against a (hardcoded?) list of Achievements which you would want to switch the member’s role for.
-
Sounds interesting. I’m not sure I fully understand the need for both actions, could you by any chance show a quick code example of how I might go about doing this when you get a moment. Would be much appreciated, as I’m hoping to begin developing the project sometime in January and need all the help I can get. Thanks for the reply.
