So, that’s it? Nobody has a solution? Does BuddyPress only work correctly with two themes?

    Still doesn’t work.

I have searched through at least 100 themes, and I’ve found two that show comments to people who aren’t logged in: x2 and Custom Community. Both of these themes appear to be made by the same person, and I really don’t care for either of these themes.

I would like to use Twenty Fourteen, and I have not been able to find anyone using this theme, who is also having this problem.

Also, the plugin BuddyPress Sitewide Activity shows all comments to people who are not logged in, but I don’t want that in my sidebar, and it doesn’t solve the groups problem.

If it is a problem with WordPress being in a subfolder, what would allow these two themes and the plugin to still work?

Nope. I take it back. I made the same mistake I made before; I was logged in, so of course I could see the comments.

    Still doesn’t work.

Okay, Twenty Twelve works(the one I didn’t try). I must be missing where you said to try Twenty Twelve.

    Thanks.

I deactivated all the plugins, except BuddyPress. Still the same.

So, I started going through different themes hoping one would work, and I came across one called X2 that actually showed comments, but I don’t care for the look of the theme. But, I figured if I came across one, then there has to be more, right?

I have gone through about twenty themes with no luck (except for x2).

Do any WordPress themes actually work with BuddyPress?

I’ve got it opened up. What am I looking for?

Sorry, I should have included that. I’ve tried about five different themes, with the same result. I have also deactivated all unnecessary plugins.

And, it’s not just this one. I have another installation on the same domain, with the same problem. http://cmssix.com/free-green-screen-videos/

No, I didn’t do either of those. I haven’t messed with any code in BuddyPress. The only thing I’ve altered is in header.php, and I’ve gone back to a clean install of this theme, and nothing changed.

So, I decided to give up on trying to figure out the code for that theme, and just went ahead and switched to Twenty Fourteen, and I have the same problem; no comments in the activity stream.

I realized, when I said the problem was resolved by switching to another theme, I was actually logged in, and that is why I could see the comments.

So, I still have the same problem, on two different blogs, there are no comments shown to logged out users, in the activity stream.

    Thank you for your reply!

That did it. When I changed themes they showed up. I’m using the Gamepress theme, and I’d like to keep it. Is there something I can look for to fix in the theme?

So nobody can help me with this? I don’t get it.

The plug-in, “Buddypress Sitewide activity widget” shows ALL activity to EVERYONE (logged in or not), but it is in the sidebar, and I would prefer it be in my activity stream, not the the sidebar.

Is there a way to get the activity stream to show ALL activity to even the non-members?

Yes, I’m using WP 3.2.1 and BP 1.2.9.

    I appreciate everybody’s help.

BuddyPress just isn’t for me if I have to go through all of this to get it to work.

    Again, thanks.

Yeah, I posted it earlier. I’ve tried it, and it is exactly the same.

I just tried it again. Right now I have it on the default theme, and it’s the same. I also clicked on forums in the tab, and I get a 404.

Just so I’m clear on this, there is supposed to be “create group” in the drop down, under “my account”, right?

    @djsix

    Thanks for the help.

I went to /group-details and I can see now that the groups that I was trying to make are showing up.

    Here’s the problems:

There’s not a link for people to create groups. If i have to, I can make a link in a widget, although I would rather not do it that way.

But that doesn’t matter, because when I go to the the address to create groups; I can create a group, on the next page I select it to be a public group, I click next, and I get a 404 page.

I can’t have people making groups, and getting a 404 page.

    @djsix

Yes, I’ve enabled groups, and everything else works fine.

The theme is the latest version, and I’m using Buddypress Template Pack with the theme.

I’ve tried the default, and I have the same problem.

Where are my PHP logs located, so I can check them?

    Thanks.
