I don’t think it’s a plugin issue. I just tried in Chrome browser and the crop selection tool for avatar is still not visible. It preselects and you cannot change it. The funny thing is, I started a new group, and that avatar was selectable before cropping. Then I went back to the old group,, and it was not. Same browser.

I’d like to be able to change/update my group avatars.

    Thanks,
    David

r-a-y you say there are personal feeds in buddypress. How do I find my personal feed for posts I write in BP? Even if I do not have all group activity, my own feed would give me some choices.

Otherwise, I am also looking for a plugin to track group activity.

It seems odd that the select tool to choose crop area still does not show at all. When I installed BP, it worked. I just tried deactivating all BP plugins, and even with just the base BPplugin, the select tool fro group avatar does not show, so unable to select crop area.

I think this may have occurred with the latest BP update, since I know it worked a week ago.

    Thanks,
    David

How is the groupblog different from the buddypress group posting output? A blog posts updates to the top of the page, and so does bp group. Please clarify the differences. I am not sure I want to engage the group blog with a new url, unless there are distinct advantages over the bp group discussion layout.

    Thanks,
    David

    Resolved.

I figured it out, and also got a response from the theme designer.

First, BP default theme is not in the themes folder, oddly. It’s in Plugins. So I had edited the wrong header file.

The designer suggested copying the footer file from the default and putting the anaylitcs code before the closing body code.

Odd. Get Source does not show the changes I made in the past few days.

    okay. Thanks!!

Thanks. I will do that. The page and single files in the theme I am using call for the header, retrieving it from the default theme.

I have not tried switching to the default theme, since it is only two columns.

It’s only been two days. Perhaps the tracking code will catch up.

    Any thoughts on this?

    Thanks,
    David

I figured it out. I deleted the folder “forums”(which had two subfolders wp-content and wp-includes, don’t know how) and reinstalled it new from the forums setup in the BuddyPress dashboard.

I figured it out. I needed to disable all my plugins and install a compatible theme. The theme updater did not work. Boy, this must be really new if most themes are not compatible.

I am using 3.0. I installed the conversion plugin, and I am at Step Three

Now that the template files are in the correct location, click through your site (you can come back to this page at any point). You should see a BuddyPress admin bar at the top of the page, try visiting some of the links in the “My Account” menu. You should find that BuddyPress pages now work and are displayed.

No such admin bar appears anywhere on my blog. Tried installing buddypress again and reactivating after following steps, and no go, blank page, must ftp delete.

Tried in specific order you suggested. No go.

Okay. Thanks. That gives me an idea of what is involved. I appreciate it.

Now that I know what WP MU is, can’t I install it to replace my stand alone platform?? (and then upload the databases to the new install)

david here again. I just added buddypress to another page http://blog.davidhthomas.net/discussions and it is functional.

It’s strange that is is touted as a “plugin” when it’s really a new wordpress install.

Please correct any of this info if it’s wrong, so I can use buddypress in the most flexible way possible.

    thanks,

    david
