    Hi @bp-help can you help with that plugin at all?
    i know it’s not yours but it looks like the author hasn’t been back in weeks and you seem to be using it.

    i’m just trying to add a simple menu link to user profiles and added #bpmdcustom#/profile/ which does absolutely nothing.

    No worries if not, i’ll keep trying with it!

    No the theme has sidebars a plenty with unlimited custom sidebar creation too. Buddpyress pages are full width with no way of adding sidebars for some reason.

    I thought BP was supposed to work out of the box with themes now?

    Ah yes “gform” is that gravity forms then?
    Never realised you could do stuff like that with them.

    thanks @mercime

    Last time i hired a developer i got ripped off for £250 which is why i’m working all day every day doing my best to learn everything i can about this thing.

    I’ll find the issue somehow.

    No, of course it didn’t work that would be too easy i guess 😀

    I now have brand new clean theme install, clean BP install & i’ve removed plugins.

    I don’t know what else i can do, if you have any ideas please please let me know.

    The only plugin i’ve installed this week i removed today.
    I did alter the footer last night but re-installed the theme by ftp to override those changes and i’ve removed all custom CSS.

    It’s made no difference, i’m totally at a loss now.

    Would reinstalling Buddypress help?

    thanks very much, i do appreciate it, but this fix then overrides this thread…

    https://buddypress.org/support/topic/remove-access-links-to-back-end-profile-admin-bar/

    i had everything set up and working perfectly then last night it just disappeared for logged in users.

    why do i feel like i spend my whole life going round in circles with this thing 😀

    thanks again, i’ll drop you a line tomorrow 🙂

    Thank you very much, that’s restored the front end profiles again.
    I’ve added your original code and removed the link to the dashboard too.

    Will i be ok leaving that commmented out or will have an effect on something else?
    Sorry for all the questions and thanks again for your help.

    If you’re available for hire i’ll be looking for someone to check over the site for us very soon to make sure it’s all as it should be.

    sorry @bp-help i’m not sure what you mean. i’m learning as i go along here, how would i do that?

    @fpats

    And now i can’t delete posts or upload media, it’s like the site is completely broken now. I’ve been working since 6am to get this ready for tomorrow and every thing was perfect until i added this bit of code.

    Is anyone else from Buddypress online who can offer advice please?

    @fpats

    and with the code..

    I really don’t get it, i’ve done nothing but add that code.

    So i removed it… the left side menu is back on the admin bar as it should be but i still can’t access front end profiles, i just get a white screen.

    @fpats

    thanks alot @bp-help that worked perfectly in removing the left side menu.

    unfortunately it’s also somehow disabled front end editing of user profiles.

    is there another way?

    @fpats

    Done, thanks.
    Yes it’s the theme as private community works with default BP.

    Not really sure how that helps me though. I’ve gone through 6-7 premium themes now trying to get BP to work how it should and 3 of those are since BP1.7 was launched with it’s claims of working with any theme (it blatantly doesn’t).

    I think i’m just going to give up with it before i have a breakdown to be honest.

    @fpats

    Very possibly but i’m not skilled enough to check, i have limited experience in all this so have to rely on plugins.

    It’s this theme > maestro

    I’ll keep trying anyway, there’s membership/role plugins i can try i guess.

    @fpats

    Neither work i’m afraid, not for us anyway.

    I’ve activated private community but can still access BP when not logged in.
    I’ve activated private buddypress but no tab is added to our settings page so it can’t be configured.

    Someone please shoot me.

    thanks anyway, i’ll keep trying.

    Not seen that before @bphelp thanks!
    Looks like i’m now staying up another hour.

    @fpats

    Looks like the perfect plugin but as usual on our BP installation, this doesn’t work.
    Have installed it but there’s no tab added to our settings panel so it can’t be configured 🙁

    I’m not sure what i’ve done but FFS, the gods must really hate us.

    @fpats

    No, nothing’s working.

    So tonight i’ve deleted everything, bought a brand new theme and reinstalled BP.
    It doesn’t work with the theme, or with template pack.

    I give in.

    @fpats

    Sorry, this theme.. Made

    I’m pretty sure the theme isn’t the problem TBH.
    It’s this one but i’ll contact them anyway, thanks for the tip.
