solved! used the plugin in this thread – however I put the plugin in ‘plugins’ instead of ‘mu-plugins’ as I am using 1.0

I found this other thread on the forum but it relates to a previous version of Buddypress.

Alunsina, I got the RSS feed issue sorted and have been trying out that feedpress plugin,

However when I feed the post in (i’m using custom fields) I dont seem to get any image coming through?

Also the link of the post doesn’t seem to go anywhere it displays as my main domain, even though I have set the settings to link to the source not the aggregate?

I was hoping to install this on mysite.com rather than in a subdirectory? Is this possible?

I have a problem actually getting the feed to work, getting this error when I try and subscribe to the feed on all the blogs.

XML Parsing Error: XML or text declaration not at start of entity

    Location: http://blog.*******.com/feed/

    Line Number 2, Column 1:<?xml version=”1.0″ encoding=”UTF-8″?>

(will start a new post about this error as its slightly off topic) but still keen to find a solution for my question above.

I’m following the instructions for the new 1.0 release, however when get to the point where I save the config file in step one and then I click the button to take me to step two and it just sends me straight to the forum homepage and does not allow me to set up the integration?

I’ve tried to deleting the bb config file a few times now but the same thing keeps happening?

    Any ideas why?

Forgive my ignorance but im a bit confused!

how can I set up sidebars then to include the widgets? At the minute my members directory page is looking a bit odd without the sidebars to complete the design.

Phew! that was a lot easier than I thought! :)

Modified the bphome theme to suit some custom requirements I had and its working a treat now!

    Thanks for the help! :)

You’re right, switching to the default home theme solves my problem, however is there any modifications I can make to my custom theme to enable it to work?

I have not done much styling to the skeleton theme so working up form this wont be an issue.

    Thanks

On an unrelated note, I have another issue which I have been trying to post to the forum, but everytime I try and post it (in the same way as I have just posted this topic) it does not display here on the forum??

Can you only have one topic active at one time?

Thanks John, YSlow showed that one of the plugins I was using ‘Multi-level Navigation Plugin’ was taking the longest. I’ve deleted it ( as I wasnt using it anyway but it was still activated) and it seems to have increased the load time somewhat!

    Thanks!

I’m using the latest version of Buddypress, downloaded only a few days ago, I’m using my own theme and was playing about with registering the sidebars, I thought perhaps I might have assigned Members to a sidebar I am no longer using but when I reactivate these sidebars which I am no longer using it says there are no widgets registered to them.

Is there a way to reset all the widgets so that none are being used? or any other solution?

I’m having the same problem. When trying to create a new blog I got the error “Address Not Found”.

I’ve followed the first instruction above (Setup the dns with a wildcard A record) but am struggling with the second instruction.

I host my site with Dreamhost and have WPMU installed in a sub-directory.

Can I access Apache through Dreamhost control panel or must I do it else where?

After completing the first step when I try to access the blog I get this error

    “Site Temporarily Unavailable

We apologize for the inconvenience. Please contact the webmaster/ tech support immediately to have them rectify this.

    error id: “bad_httpd_conf” “

    Any help much appreciated!
