In reply to: Admin bar broken in IE7
i’m having the same problem with ie 7/8
This topic is over 2 years old, if you are really using bp 1.2.7 or 8 I would guess there is a plugin conflict.
Disable all your plugins except buddypress.
In reply to: A couple of beginner questions.Try something like this in your bp-custom:
function new_search_action() { global $bp; return apply_filters( 'new_search_action', $bp->root_domain . '/search' ); } function custom_adminbar_search() { $mobSearch = ' <li class="align-right"><form action="' . new_search_action() . '" method="post" id="search-form"> ' . bp_search_form_type_select() . ' ' . wp_nonce_field( 'bp_search_form' ) . ' </form></li> '; echo apply_filters( 'bp_search_form', $mobSearch ); } add_action('bp_adminbar_menus', 'custom_adminbar_search', 100);Tell me how that works.
In reply to: A global forum?I prefer keep local forums with the global fourm running along
Than add another forum via plugin such as: http://simple-press.com/
In reply to: A couple of beginner questions.And the code is giving me an error:
Parse error: syntax error, unexpected ‘}’ in xxx/public_html/wp-content/plugins/bp-custom.php on line 9
Make sure it has been wrapped around “ at the beginning and the end.
But I want it to display their usernames instead of their RealNames.
Use this plugin: https://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/buddypress-usernames-only/
In reply to: A global forum?Side Note: That plugin will remove the Forums Being Part of a group, All your groups will no longer have a forum.
In reply to: A couple of beginner questions.<i> How can I make it so it displays the users by nicknames, not by their names?</i>
That is what Buddypress does currently. It displays their “RealName” rather than their Username across the site.
<i> how can I add Activity and Members links in the adminbar?</i>
Add this to your bp-custom.php:
function pages(){ ?> <li class="no-arrow"><a href="yoursite.com/activity">Activity</a> <li class="no-arrow"><a href="yoursite.com/groups/">Groups</a> <?php } add_action( 'bp_adminbar_menus', 'pages', 15 );the register link works but the link to log in doesn’t it just keeps giving a 404 page not found error

In reply to: Group admin sticky forumI found the file (through the search bar on the CP) but when I click on it it says no records found?
You can’t open the file? Just access it via FTP. Filezilla is great.
In reply to: Suggested Members / GroupsI came here to see if anyone else had any success.
Off of my head, there are no plugins like that at the moment.
But you could search for “Buddypress Suggestions” on google, might give you some answers.
In reply to: There’s no way for new members to JOINDoesn’t it say “Sign Up”?
In reply to: Group admin sticky forumGo into groups/single/forum/topic.php and remove:
`<?php if ( bp_group_is_admin() || bp_group_is_mod() ||`
In reply to: There’s no way for new members to JOINMake sure the “Anyone Can Register” is enabled under the wordpress general settings
In reply to: CSS Works in FireFox but not in Chrome, Opera and IENope. You can allow access to any user role with WP Maintenance Mode plugin.
Ok, well I don’t use that plugin.
Learn something new everyday!
In reply to: Changed Group Permissions – Lost messagesI just changed a group from “private” to “public” and all the posts went away. I went back to “Private”, and they came back.
Hmm…I tested this on my site.
I have a private group with all the activity stream posts, so I set it to “Public” and they all did indeed disappear.
In reply to: Banning users from groupsExisting ticket: https://trac.buddypress.org/ticket/2661
Will be of 1.3.
In reply to: CSS Works in FireFox but not in Chrome, Opera and IEchecked wp-admin. it’s a test user account, not Site/Super Admin one.
How? Maintenance Mode prohibits access to everything unless it’s super admin.
In reply to: CSS Works in FireFox but not in Chrome, Opera and IE@mercime, remove the Username and Psw from the above post. On any circumstance, the super admin Username And Psw should never be posted out in the open.
Your site is vulnerable to attacks, and everything else.
In reply to: Suggested Members / GroupsHas anyone found a plugin that would allow us to display a short list of members that have similar profile to the user?
You must go searching for the plugin you want, we can’t just think of the plugin off top of hand and list it for you.
Go to the Buddypress.org Plugins directory https://buddypress.org/extend/plugins/
But, the best thing would be to search on google
In reply to: Customize profileUnfortunately, there is no option or plugin for this at the moment.
May be worth searching on google for possible solutions such as http://www.google.com/#sclient=psy&hl=en&q=buddypress+profile+color&aq=f&aqi=&aql=&oq=&pbx=1&bav=on.2,or.r_gc.r_pw.&fp=5b48774d4519ce9c
But, there is a plugin that can do that for groups https://buddypress.org/community/groups/buddypress-group-css/
In reply to: BuddyPress, Wishlist, and WordPress 3.01I am planning on purchasing Wishlist, but I am also planning on using BuddyPress. If I am using WordPress 3.01, can both Wishlist and BuddyPress work together in one website run by WordPress.
99.3% of the time, it’s fine with buddypress, but I am not finding any “whitelist” plugins, where is it located so I can learn more about it?
I downloaded the WordPress Zip and the Buddypress Zip and FTP´d them up to my DreamHost domain and the problem was solved. So it´s the 1-click install the problem.
Have you not tried hnla’s solution on the database tables over here yet? https://buddypress.org/community/groups/how-to-and-troubleshooting/forum/topic/forums-not-working-error-when-creating-topic/#post-69618
In reply to: HyperDB with BuddyPresscan you please tell me what database caching plugin your using to speed up mysql queries on master / slave servers?
@ds123, your merging topics from https://buddypress.org/community/groups/how-to-and-troubleshooting/forum/topic/speeding-up-buddypress/
Please keep on topic please, don’t post off the wall questions.
In reply to: [Resolved] Speeding up buddypressBuddypress shouldn’t slow anything down at all. Unless you have a bad host, and poor space, your site should load, and load functions, just as fast as if it was not installed.
Unless, your talking about, for instance, just buddypress components. Have you read this article? http://wpmu.org/speed-up-your-wordpress-buddypress-loading-time-with-this-quick-tip/
