To the best of my knowledge, you can’t have 2 themes activated at the same time. You should choose a WordPress theme and then make use of the BuddyPress Template Hierarchy to customise the BuddyPress portion of your website.

This could be absolutely anything and I know that’s not what you wanted to hear. Try checking your .htaccess file, sometimes that can be a source of 500 errors.

You may have some URL conflicts?

For example, I may have a page called WordPress here:

example.com/wordpress

Then if I install a second instance of WordPress in a sub dir called wordpress, I’d have:

example.com/wordpress

It’s all I can think of.

You’d need to think about your database too. That could cause some issues.

Perhaps there’s a plugin conflict?

Unless I’m mistaken, there must some thing else wrong because I’ve not found BuddyPress Followers to be problematic in that way. Are you sure you’re using the latest version?

You’ll probably want to dequeue the style sheet that comes with the plugin and then add your own styles to your theme’s style.css.

You should paste @shanebp‘s code into your theme’s functions.php file. That’s where it should go.

Have you opened a ticket on the xProfile Rich Text Field plugin’s support forum?

Instead of trying the newline characater, try <br /> or <p>.

xProfile data is a BuddyPress thing and user meta is a WordPress thing. Which one you use will depend on whether you plan to always use BuddyPress. If not then taking the user meta approach will ensure your plugin will work on all WordPress installs (even when BuddyPress is deactivated).

The best advice I can give is to look at how some of the already-available plugins do it. XML Sitemaps is a good one to learn from. It might not cover BuddyPress pages but I’ve used it in the past and it worked great for me.

So, is that how the spam or favorite/un favorite buttons work?

Maybe. It will depend if you have JavaScript enabled in your browser. If you do, then Ajax will be working. If you don’t, it’s likely the traditional POST or GET methods will be in operation.

I’m not sure what the “provider user identifier” is? If it’s something in WordPress Social Login, try asking the question over at their support forum. They should be up to speed on it.
