In fact I would go further and advise the use of travel-Junkies bp-xtra-signup plugin for it’s password strength checker and other touches. Stop them doing user name ‘bob’ password ‘bob’

hnla posted on the forum topic How to give users a blog? in the group How-To and Troubleshooting: 15 years, 7 months ago
User blogs are a function of WP rather than BuddyPress. You need WPMU or the newer WP 3.0.1 installed and if installing WP 3.0.1 then you have to manually enable the Multi Site functionality; you will find a guide to doing this on the WP codex.

As well as Roger’s pointers, you probably need to read through the docs pages as some things like this request will require a little bit of inner workings knowledge. I would suggest reading through this page which will give you all the clues you need to be able to remove an adminbar item and relocate […]

@octapie still need to know what actual version your files are being parsed through.
Can you upload a file to your doc root call it php-conf.php in it simply write:
run that file from your domain i.e example.com/php-conf.php and it should report the version of php your server is using. -

Thinking about it you may want to increase the max_execution_time to perhaps double? never needed to adjust this figure myself but with 50,000 blogs to cycle through that execution time might be too short? In fact I would try adjusting that before the mem limit to see if it helps.

256 is pretty big, what you set it to depends on what is available, and also bear in mind what the limit is actually put in place for which is to prevent a script crashing your server, if you set the limit to all available memory you would be in trouble if a badly written […]

50,000 users and blogs, really!? that’s certainly going to put BP through it’s paces. What’s your PHP script memory limit set to out of interest.

In all honesty this isn’t the appropriate element to use for a list of thumbnail images; tables are for tabulated data which a series of images isn’t, these should really be a ul li which ultimately you will find easier to style and control. If you’re persevering with the table then I would suggest you […]

It’s almost definitely a problem resting with different PHP versions then, and I suspect it’s the issue with this double colon syntax to reference class constants. Do need to know the exact php version running on the MT servers though.

Media temple VDS CentOS servers will likely have 5.2.6 at least one I have access to does. That’s not a standard RPM for CentOS though so either Media Temple compile that or the Plesk panel does. I would think that all Media Temple PHP versions are at least 5.2.3 but that is speculation.

The :: is debatable as discussed on the other thread WP is stopping support for anything under PHP 5.2.3 so many might say it’s fine to use this syntax yet it will break in anything under 5.2.3, not sure it can be replaced without instantiation of the class, but I admit my understanding of classes […]
