Your User/Group permissions are probably wrong or PHP SafeMode is on. Contact your host and pose the question to them. the server needs to be able to write to files directories.

As for file permissions don’t leave them at 777 it’s dangerous and not necessary 755 should be more than sufficient

Under Super Admin -> Options there’s a box labeled ‘Limited Email Domains’ which allows you to specify domains that are allowed to register. This is a MU / MS option only though and isn’t available if running WP as single blog.

You could go to ‘Activity’ and mark something as ‘Favourite’ as a means of grouping you favourite threads/comments etc in one list.

Other than that I would wait on the changes that will be effected for the site soon that should address many of it’s shortcomings.
