HorrorUK started the topic Change background color of notifications in admin bar in the forum How-to & Troubleshooting 7 years, 5 months ago
My theme is changing the background color of the notifications icon in the admin bar, to be the same as links on the site. This is a dark blue, so cannot be seen well and the number within it cannot be seen either.
Is there some CSS I can use to change this color?
Thanks.

Is there a way to change the @name used in BuddyPress so that it doesn’t give away the username used by a user, or admin.
This is especially useful for the admin users, as I don’t want anybody to see the usernames used for the admin accounts for security.
Are there any plugins or anything that would allow a user to create their own @name, as I…[Read more]

I had a little play (because I’m not as techie as I used to be), and I found the solution.
In member-header.php line 25 it has this:
<h2 class="user-nicename">@<?php bp_displayed_user_mentionname(); ?></h2>
I changed that to this:
<h2 class="user-nicename">@<?php echo bp_get_displayed_user_username();…

Thanks for that.
I’ve taken a look at those, and it seems that most of them are about changing the way it is shown, but I’m happy for the username to be shown, which is how it is done in the system (joej), but on the profile it is showing the display name (Joe Jenkins).
Which file deals with showing the top half of the profile, where it has the…[Read more]

HorrorUK replied to the topic Creating a group doesn't get past first screen in the forum How-to & Troubleshooting 11 years, 2 months ago
I’ve gone in and removed all other plugins and used the default theme, but I still have the same problem.
I tried some of the solutions on the link below, but none of them worked:

HorrorUK started the topic Creating a group doesn't get past first screen in the forum How-to & Troubleshooting 11 years, 2 months ago
I’m having trouble with groups being created.
It allows the first screen to be filled in, but when it gets to the second section, it does not have any info, just the steps to be taken. Clicking on the ‘next’ button takes you to one of the ‘Are you sure?’ screens, and if you click yes, it returns you to the section with no info in there.
It does…[Read more]

HorrorUK started the topic Editing the pages, such as activity, groups, etc in the forum How-to & Troubleshooting 11 years, 2 months ago
I’m having a problem with some themes I want to use with BuddyPress.
They are not showing sidebars on pages, and I can get around this on most pages using a plugin, but to do this, I need to place the code where I need it to be, and where certain BP pages are just blank, this is not possible.
I thought shortcodes may be a way around this, but it…[Read more]

HorrorUK replied to the topic Do any plugins exist that do multi-step registration for Buddypress? in the forum Creating & Extending 11 years, 2 months ago
You can do this with Gravity Forms (www.gravityforms.com). You’ll need to also have the User Registration Add-On, but it does a great job of doing what you are asking.
The only thing to keep in mind though, is that it won’t save any of the info until you click the final submit button.
I use this for registration on BuddyPress. Though I don’t…[Read more]

I have some extra profile fields for Facebook/Twitter profiles, but when they are clicked on, the page is loaded in the same tab/window.
Is there a way to get these to load into a new tab instead?

I’m having a problem with the groups section, where non-admin users are unable to create new groups as the button doesn’t show up.
I have selected the section in the admin (Enable group creation for all users).
I don’t know if this makes a difference, but this is set up on the main site of a multisite installation.
Thanks.

Ignore that, I just added an older trac version, and for some reason it doesn’t show on there either, so must be my site.
