| WordPress Origin Story | It all started in 2008 with a request from Chris, founder of Firehost (now known as Armor.com), was making waves in the secured hosting industry. Chris approached me with a project unlike any I had tackled before — he wanted me to develop a blog for his company. However, there was a catch. This blog was to be built not on Drupal, but on WordPress. My expertise lay in Drupal, and venturing into the unknown territory of WordPress was a bit daunting. But the challenge intrigued me, and I accepted. Starting to work with WordPress was like diving into a new world. I was excited to learn about its code and features. I found WordPress easy to use and the community supportive. While I faced challenges, I saw them as opportunities to improve my skills in WordPress. The project was more than just another item in my portfolio; it was a pivotal moment in my career. The blog went live without a hitch. It was a testament to the power and flexibility of WordPress, and I couldn’t help but feel a sense of pride in what I had accomplished. The satisfaction of seeing my client’s vision come to life on this new platform was exhilarating. That experience was a revelation. I realized that WordPress offered a unique blend of simplicity for users and complexity for developers, making it an ideal platform for a wide range of projects. The positive outcome of the Firehost blog project was the nudge I needed to reevaluate my path.
