| About Me | I have enjoyed using and helping other to use WordPress for many years now. The combination of ease of use, flexibility, and expandability are incredible. I am a full stack DevOps developer who can write an iPhone app, configure the web site for that app, configure the Linux servers and build the back end services for the app, and in the process, I can construct the continuous integration workflow including the Puppet provisioned Vagrant VMs, WebDriver/PhantomJS automated tests, and the git repositories that are used throughout the process. Computers and development are genuinely fascinating to me. Above all else, it’s the people who matter to me. The most interesting part of technology is connecting with people and helping them to use it in their lives and in real world work situations. |

| WordPress Origin Story | In Washington, DC I was doing cold call sales for website freelancing work. I would walk into businesses, ask for a decision maker, shake their hand and ask about their website. In many cases, I closed the deal and secured an order for a new website. Pretty exciting! Along the way, I met some people who were very excited about WordPress and it gave me a reason to pause and spend some time really learning about WordPress and tinkering with it. It was not just one more option. I developed an appreciation for the vast installed base of WordPress sites. Especially for onboarding business owners and professionals who wanted some access to how their online presence was being run, I found WordPress to be a tool which I could explain in real language to real people. Offering endless and quick expandability through plugins and widgets was a joy. These days I am familiar with WordPress and just about every other main stream CMS out there, but WordPress will always occupy a special place in my heart for a special breed of client who has a certain kind of practicality and creativity. |
