Thanks so much for your reply and for explaining things to me.
I think I understand the situation now but the new function’s script is appearing at the top of my webpage above the header. I have also received this message: Warning: Cannot modify header information – headers already sent by (output started at /webroot/s/m/smoke019/primary/www/wp-content/plugins/bp-custom.php: in /webroot/s/m/smoke019/primary/www/wp-includes/pluggable.php on line 934.
Do you know if there’s something that has to get deleted from the second file the warning message mentioned in order to get this conflict to go away?
Thank you again.
I was referred to this thread by a moderator to help me figure out how to bypass the group admin page. What I’d like to do instead is have the users go directly to the forum page after clicking the link for a specific group on the group directory page. I am not clear though how to actually make this happen based on the discussion above though. Could you assist in this modification as well?
Thank you in advance.

Any thoughts on this?

This has now been resolved! I didn’t realize that I shouldn’t be in bp-default since I have a custom template.
Sorry for the confusion and thank you for all the help regarding this! This has now been resolved! I didn’t realize that I shouldn’t be in bp-default since I have a custom template!
Thank you for the response, this was helpful in better understanding what the problem could be. I looked through the plugin folder but can’t see any other hidden .php files that may be responsible for the problem. Also, I didn’t pursue the notepad route because I already have been told which specific .php page to go to that should let the change occur, so it seems it’s not that I’m in the wrong place but that it just isn’t working as it should.
FYI, as a test I just deleted all the code in the group-header.php (it was completely blank and saved that way) and there was no change online! No matter what I do to group-header it is not reflected on the webpage. Maybe there is another file I can go to instead? Unfortunately, I am not clear which files correspond to which pages online.
Hi modemlooper,
Please excuse the delay from last week that was due to car problems. Could you see if the info is correct in the file to remove public groups?
Thank you
Modemlooper,
I just posted the group-header.php to pastebin in the public comments. I tried deleting yet again but no change. Would be great to see what you think ….
Thank you.
The page has a url similar to: website.com/groups/group-name. It says Group Admins on the top.
Then there’s a larger header with the group name and right below is where it says Public Group (with the most recent activity immediately following).I’ve tried changing things in bp-default/groups/groups-loop as well as default/groups/single/activity but nothing I delete has changed anything so I don’t know what I’m doing wrong.

That is the path, so I’ve now found groups/single, thank you
…. however, I just tried deleting the code mentioned and nothing changed on the page
Any idea what could be going on or what to do instead?
Thank you very much for the information!
The issue I’m having now is finding that php file. I don’t see anything like groups/single in my file manager and I manually downloaded buddypress in hopes I could upload a missing file but I didn’t see anything like it there either. Just last week thought I have a record of being in groups/single/activity.php as well as groups/single/forums.php but now I can’t find those either. My buddpress site is working fine though without any problmes online. Maybe I’m just not accessing the bp-default/groups/single file correctly?
In case this is relevant info, I have used BP-compatibility so I’m not using the default theme but have BP matching the rest of the site instead.
Could you help me figure out where to go to get the php file mentioned above?
Thank you.
Unfortunately, this didn’t get resolved I had hoped since the last active group still keeps coming up to the top of the list in /groups/.
I found this code in the groups-loop.php which I thought may be responsible for this?
<?php printf( __( 'active %s ago',‘buddypress’ ), bp_get_group_last_active() ) ?>
I’ve tried to remove , bp_get_group_last_active() but get an error message about an unnecesary “)” and can’t get the coding to be correct.
Could someone assist? Also, is this even the right track?
Thank you.
Thank your for the clarification. It sounds like it does change their membership password as well. Is there some way I can remove this password change option?
Yes, and I think a few more links went away after I disabled the updates too(such as activity and @name).
However, I am concerned about the username aand passwords profile showing up under Settings. I’ve created a membership site and I’m not sure whether someone who were to change their password through the buddypress settings would simultaneously be changing their password for the membership site or not (right now I have buddypress only available to the members and they don’t have to sign in separately. Do you think it’s correct that this buddypress password setting is referring to my site’s membership password?
Thank you.
Resolved
I went into groups/single/forum.php and removed the code mentioned in the earlier post that was there.
Thanks again.Resolved.
FYI, I figured out where to go to access this file without creating a child theme.
Thank you for the reply.
I have accessed the forms/index.php file, found the lines mentioned and have deleted them but the Tags (Commas delimited) box is still on the form for “Post a New Topic. ” What do you think is wrong? What do you suggest doing?
