The crop only works if IE8 is set to “compatibility mode” which is a major problem for this side of the world. It looks like an issue with the jcrop script. Please let me know if you encounter any solutions.
Thank you.

@DJPaul Hi…
Just wondering, are other people able to crop their avatars in IE8?
-
Don’t know — and I haven’t got a Windows PC that I can test it on either, unfortunately.

@DJPaul Hi Paul,
I disabled all plugins and changed the theme to default. The avatar crop still didn’t work in IE8… and since the site is live I had to switch it back to my custom theme.
I’m almost certain this is a bug in the script and I just need a fix to get around it until Buddypress comes up with an official solution. Please…[Read more]

I keep getting a message “Error on the page” in IE8.
Please note: My users are not technologically sophisticated enough to change settings in IE8 – that’s why I need it work out of the box.
Many, many thanks!

Hi Paul,
I disabled every plugin other than BuddyPress – the avatar crop still doesn’t work in IE8. Then, with only BuddyPress plugin, I switched to the default theme. It still doesn’t work.
Please help soon.
Thank you,

Thanks so much for commenting on my post
BuddyPress Avatar Crop Not Working Internet Explorer 8I’ve added my list of plugins to see if you think there’s one that might be conflicting. Since I always use Firefox, I didn’t realized my IE8 users were unable to crop their avatars until yesterday! I tried disabling a few plugins…[Read more]

Hi Paul, I just tried this fix, but it didn’t work: http://premium.wpmudev.org/forums/topic/ie8-compatibility-mode. Below is a list of my active plugins. But I’m not sure if it’s a plugin issue because the cropping works in Firefox. Is it an IE8 compatibilty issue? If so, how can I get around it? Here are my active plugins: * […]

jdawn started the forum topic Nicer Permalinks for Vietnamese (with add-on of Thai characters) in the group Third Party Components & Plugins: 14 years, 3 months ago
I have used the Nicer Permalinks for Vietnamese code to force my BuddyPress permalinks to show in Roman characters rather than Thai characters, because BuddyPress does not allow %post_id% in its permalink structure as far as I can tell. The Thai characters which automatically appeared in the permalink on the post page were a problem […]
