@hnla I don’t believe the PHP is still parsing… it seems to be working as intended. Having the “unnecessary” markup in source view is fine by me as it helps me to remember what I need to do whenever I upgrade. Thanks again for your assistance! 🙂

@hnla Thanks! I accomplished this by commenting the corresponding lines in my theme’s header.php like so:
*EDIT: hmm… guess bbcode doesn’t work on these forums. I took a screenshot of the solution in case anyone is interested: http://img715.imageshack.us/img715/4051/hideactivitystream.png

Is there a way to hide the activity stream without disabling it? I just want to remove the navigation tab but keep the activity stream enabled so I can still have a functional RSS feed for my site-wide activity. A solution that does not modify the core files is preferred but not an absolute necessity.

@jeffsayre it wasn’t my goal when I started the topic, but as soon as I started to dig beneath the surface, it became clear that it would have to be all-or-nothing ordeal as renaming only the slugs might confuse some of my members.

@jeffsayre I did see that and I considered only renaming the slugs but I was looking for more of a complete rename of the words “group” and “groups” site-wide. Poedit was helpful in that regard, but it would have taken me a while to manually edit each entry with those words in them. I may get […]

Wow… that’s a lot of work (changing every mention of the word “group” in the po file one by one)! Even with that poedit program, it was a tedious and time consuming task because there was no “find and replace” functionality and with a text editor (I use TextPad), you have to be sure not […]

Does anyone know of a current solution to rename buddypress components? I found the following plugin, but it seems to be outdated: https://buddypress.org/community/groups/buddypress-rename-components/
I would like to rename the “Groups” component.

They should add the ability to rename components to the BuddyPress plugin itself.

Is it possible?
I am restricting the creation of groups to paid memberships so I would like to allow my group & site admins to have this functionality for their group descriptions and forum posts.

I would like to make it so in order to create a group on my site, you have to pay a membership fee and the member gets administrative access to the group for as long as their account is paid. The terms will be 1 month, 6 month, and 1 year. Does this plugin make this possible?

Nice plugin! there’s only a few things that are keeping me from using it for the time being though: 1) It completely bypasses permissions set by the BP Profile Privacy plugin: https://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/bp-profile-privacy/ Perhaps you could integrate this kind of functionality? 2) The text inside the box is very hard for me to read…[Read more]

I attempted to install the W3TC plugin again today and I was suddenly getting the memory error again. I spent several hours discussing the issue with my server support rep and he was finally able to fix the issue! He never divulged exactly what he did to fix the problem, but I really didn’t care […]
