Sounds like your theme has javascript errors in it somewhere. You’ll want to track them down and eliminate them.
Your questions so far have given me the impression that you’re quite new to WordPress web development (modifying plugin files, not knowing how to debug javascript, etc…) If this is the case, you’ll have a better experience by…[Read more]

John James Jacoby replied to the topic URGENT HELP MY WEBSITE IS DOWN! in the forum How-to & Troubleshooting 11 years, 4 months ago
You should never modify BuddyPress’s files. There’s no way for anyone to know what you’re doing to them, meaning there’s nothing we can do to help you besides recommend rolling back to an unmodified installation.

John James Jacoby replied to the topic URGENT HELP MY WEBSITE IS DOWN! in the forum How-to & Troubleshooting 11 years, 4 months ago
You should do what the error message says, and start by looking in your bp-core-avatars.php file, around line 1032.
If your site is live, and it’s critical to your users that it remain that way, it’s best not to modify live files on a live server, as this is the likely outcome.

John James Jacoby replied to the topic [Resolved] bp_core_remove_subnav_item dropped in 1.7.2? in the forum How-to & Troubleshooting 11 years, 6 months ago
Still where it’s always been, in bp-core-buddybar.php. It’s included directly, so the only way you’re getting that error is if the file is incomplete, or was modified.

John James Jacoby replied to the topic Emails not sending after upgrade to 1.7 in the forum How-to & Troubleshooting 11 years, 7 months ago
You’ll have better luck troubleshooting what’s going on with emails than you will going backwards in versions.
What do your server logs say?
Do normal calls to wp_mail() still work?
Do email notifications work?
Do you have other plugins that touch email code installed? If so, try deactivating them. -

You’ll have better luck using Subversion or FTPing as needed. We don’t have an easy UI to swap plugin versions around.
