@junithorn what theme are you using? Non-admins can create groups in basic installation if you allow it in Settings > BuddyPress > Settings.

@junithorn I placed the link to that page because I had modified member/single/index.php and other files in a Responsive child theme and had no issues with sidebar nor footer widgets.
