Ahhh, ok I just tested something.
I’m not using the default buddypress theme. So I activated the default theme and it appears to work, so that is telling me it must be a theme problem.

I had this problem at first too then I read the FAQ and figured it out. In the settings make sure “customConfig” points to a js file that contains a toolbar definition named bpckeditor
