I am very frustrated. No matter what I do, if BuddyPress is activated registration does not work.
I’m going to send them a link to this thread. My site is finally getting popular and not being able to register people is a real pain in the you know where.
Earlier I put the site on staging platform and deactivated all the plugins and tried registering and it worked. Then, when I activated BuddyPress, registration stopped working. It has nothing to do with WPMU or social login at all. Aside from that, BuddyPress worked until the update. And apparently even though I uninstalled 1.62 something was left that is still causing an issue.
I’ll be on after Shabbat. Thanks for your help.
I’m on WP Engine. They’re supposed to be WP experts.
I’ve been working for hours.
Doesn’t matter which plugin. If Buddypress is active, no one can register on my site, period.
Give me a link please because I’ve been looking for how to download it for over an hour.
Sorry, I found it. Thank you!!!
I have no clue.
WP Engine isn’t updating to WP 3.5 until Jan 17.
So what am I supposed to do? Reinstall and turn everything back on?
I installed this update and left it, and though I was getting thousands of visits to my new site, no one was registering. Finally, friends told me they were unable to register! two weeks of advertising down the drain.
I seriously need check ins that go to foursquare too. Will have to see what can be done.
@designnz That’s about the same for me with my post types…waiting for an answer with interest.
I am a novice and without step by step instructions, I wouldn’t know where to start. Anyway, because Balance is supposed to work with BuddyPress natively, they are working the issues out in their theme for your plugin.
Does the plugin send checkins to Foursquare?
OK, I deactivated the plugin and reactivated it (only on the home blog, not on the network) and I tried adding a community place again today and it worked.
The PressCrew is installing your plugin on Balance theme to see what happens to make the sidebar fall off and go to the bottom, and they’ll get back to me about it, so I’ll fill you in when I have answers.
blogMYlunch is intended as an international site, but since I am in Israel and also making another site for people who keep kosher, it would be nice to be able to add other categories (ie: for handicapped accessibility, etc) .that was why I planned to use Pods originally.
I’m testing it now.
1) When I added a community place (with checkins network activated), it didn’t show up, it just disappeared.
2) the check ins page displaces the sidebar to the bottom of the page. I am using Balance by Presscrew, a new responsive BP theme..
As I said, I would like to use this with Pods because Pods allows all kinds of really cool post customization and sorting on a site.

I’m into this plugin and am psyched to see it work. Best of luck and I’m happy to help.
If the component can also allow posts to the recipe section, not a bad idea.
Anyhow, I’ll test it on blogmylunch and let you know.
I was about to ask if you were going to update this plugin. Can you get to me privately?
My email is admin @ blogmylunch . com
I am making a site that I want users to also be able to checkin to foursquare and to restaurants listed on my site. I’m using pods cms for the restaurant directory and i need help with the PHP calls to use your plugin properly.
I want to have special forms for different types of status updates. with pods it would be a php call.
There was a plugin for shops in BuddyPress but I believe it’s been deprecated. I’d be willing to pitch in to have it fixed.
I think I am going to fork this on GitHub and if anyone wants to help, we can make the theme available WTFPL. I’d also like to fork a wp bootstrap/buddy press theme.
