About Me

I’m a software engineer from the Netherlands, bringing over a decade of expertise to the table. Specialising in PHP, DevOps, and WordPress development, I have spearheaded numerous successful projects for global clients through my own agency. My dedication to the WordPress community dates back to 2009, where I have since then contributed to 23 versions and served as the lead developer of GlotPress from 2013 to 2015. My contributions have been instrumental in expanding WordPress’s reach across multiple languages, making GlotPress a cornerstone of its translation efforts.

WordPress Origin Story

I have been using WordPress since 2006 and started contributing back to it in 2009 with my first code contribution in early 2010. In that period custom post type begin to see it’s daylight and I was more than eager to start using it. While the work just started, it also meant it wasn’t fully integrated and buggy at the time. That for me was a great place to start testing and creating patches to improve WordPress. While still being a noob around version control, with the help of the core team, I was able to start contributing back to WordPress in great ways, from core, Polyglots, localisation, Meta, community and GlotPress. In 2012 I even had commit access to the unit test repository so I could improve the test suite of WordPress directly as well.
