| WordPress Origin Story | I started using WordPress back in 2010 as a platform for a tech blog MojAndroid.sk. As years went by, I witnessed the addition of custom post types, custom taxonomies and other useful features that suddenly made WordPress more suitable for custom web site development. That’s when I started freelancing as a WordPress developer and even founded a small web dev company. Somewhere along the way I met the founder of Slovak WordPress community and got involved in translations and as a WordCamp speaker and volunteer. He introduced me to a bunch of guys in his “open” company Webikon where I worked as a backend/plugin developer for some time. Custom plugin development is my favourite part of WordPress world and that’s what I did for almost 2 years at WP White Security where I worked on a number of security & management plugins for WordPress. I worked briefly on the WordPress security team where I was sponsored by Automattic to develop fixes for reported vulnerabilities and known issues, research and identify vulnerabilities in code and mitigate them before they’re discovered. |
